"I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille..."

About 8 weeks ago, I purchased a new camera...my old Canon Powershot finally died on me after about 3 years (woot!), and after talking it through with my husband, we decided to take the plunge and get a "big boy".  We've been digital for about 10 years now (crazy to think of a time when people used...umm...what's that stuff? film?!), and I've always wanted an SLR.  Once I realized dSLRs existed, I was smitten and have wanted one ever since.  I've drooled over Gyeong's and Trina's cameras, but we've always tried to be logical when it came to our camera purchase.  I take a lot of photos.  50GB worth on an 8mp camera over 2 years to be exact (and yes, that is with weeding out the bad ones...the guy at Best Buy didn't believe me until he actually went to pull the "Pictures" files off my hard drive when my OS crashed).  Because I take a lot of photos, and we travel a fair amount, we wanted something that was very portable.  So we decided it better to buy point and shoot, and splurge on the dSLR later.  But, later never came because it was always a bigger investment and we had just spent a couple of hundred dollars on another camera that worked "just fine"...until 9 weeks ago, that is!  Yes, much to my dismay (and pleasure!) my trusty old Canon finally bit the dust, and I gleefully was handing over my credit card to the Best Buy employee who in return watched me skip away with my brand new Canon XSi dSLR camera (and later, the Barnes and Noble employee watched the same thing as I walked off with my "Canon XSi dSLR cameras for Dummies" book...hehehe).

So, it's been 8 weeks now since my big purchase, and I couldn't be happier.  We still need a lighter weight, more utilitarian camera to tote around in my purse and for "every day" use, but I am totally in love with the new dSLR!  Now, I will admit that I am only in chapter 2 of the "For Dummies" book, but I just get so excited to run off and snap gorgeous photos with my new camera that I forget I don't really know how to use all the amazing functions yet.  That will be my New Year's resolution (that's for you, Kenney!).  :o)  And now, some of my recent handiwork, and my favorite subjects:

Ana and Blue...I love this one, I just wish I had another one with the reverse (Blue in the front with Ana faded in the background).

My bunny...it's easy to see how she got her nickname (one of many).

My handsome Blue-baroo.  Don't you just want to squish him?!

My sweet, sensitive boy.

My bright, sassy girl.

My grey's ears are like that! Very Egyptian looking! She can do all combinations with them too.
