For my birthday in May, the hubs bought me a fun little gadget that I never knew I needed- an 8GB Eye-Fi Explore X2 SD card for my camera! It's a fantastic memory card that can automatically upload photos using your wireless network or hotspots (think sitting at Starbucks or at the library)! It's a class 6 card, so it's pretty fast, too. I haven't tried it in my dSLR yet, but it's perfect for my point-and-shoot. You can set it up to have endless memory- it actually can automatically free up space after pictures have been safely delivered to your computer! The photos are loaded to your computer in a date-based folder structure, so it's easy to find your photos (that's already how I store all of mine, so it's a great time savings for me!), AND there is a geotagging feature so you can view, search and share your adventures on a map! For a couple of weeks, I went back and forth about whether I really needed "another memory card", especially one that carries a $100 price tag for 8GB. But...I set up the card on Saturday, and I am sold! I love taking photos of the pups, but I admit that I am a tad lazy in the uploading arena. Now when I take a photo, it automatically uploads it to a folder on my computer and adds it to a private folder on my Picasa account- at that point 90% of the process to share a photo has been completed for me! Hopefully this will help me keep more on top of my blogging! Now, I just need to get Photoshop set up again...we're in the market for a desktop to run more of our power-hungry programs, so I've been without a lot of my go-to programs for a while. For example, the test shots I took on the Eye-Fi are a little washed out...ordinarily, I could just pop them into Photoshop for some color correction before posting, but for the time being I'll just have to post au natural. Enjoy anyway! :o)
